Hammock polypropelene rope is more resistant to water than nylon hammocks and is used to make camping hammocks. Product details of hammock polypropelene rope plus links to retailers who sell polypropylene rope.

Hammock Polypropelene Rope
Polypropylene is a very popular fibre for hammock weaving and is often mistaken for nylon. 99% of the "nylon" hammocks
being sold today are really polypropylene. Why is this fiber being called nylon? Probably because nylon is a more popular
brand name, or because the real name is not as easy to pronounce. While they look and feel similar, there are differences
in these two fibers. Polypropylene fiber is very resistant to moisture so these hammocks are good for outdoors in wet
and humid locations. Polypro also stretches less than nylon or cotton so if you like a firm feeling hammock this is the
way to go.
The moisture resistance qualities that hammock polypropelene rope possesses make it ideal for use in camping and hiking
hammocks. Indeed, one of the leading camping and expedition hammock manufacturers
Clark Hammocks use hammock polypropelene rope in all their hammocks.
"Our polypropylene rope has a specific gravity of only .91, the lightest rope for its strength. Nylon ropes are stronger than polypropylene, but they stretch too much. While most polypropylene ropes are too springy to hold a knot, our rope has been specifically designed to hold a knot well. The rope has also been made slippery to allow the hammock sleeve to slip easily around the rope. This is an important feature since your weight is then permitted to settle squarely between the ropes, increasing stability. The Clark Jungle Hammock® will not tip over like other hammocks- we absolutely guarantee it."
While shiny, synthetic hammock polypropelene rope is mildew resistant and is less susceptible to some weather-related problems, it can wear out quickly if left in direct sunlight. And although polypropylene hammocks look like cotton rope hammocks it has to be remembered that they are usually not quite as comfortable.
